We intend to respond to all submitters by mid June.

Submissions will re-open in early 2026. You can read our past submission guidelines below.

Profiles seeks portraiture across all visual media (that can appear in print — sorry, sculptors). We’re open to experimental twists on the definition of ‘portrait’ — we want to see a vibrant personality, however you’ve captured it. To get a sense of what we’re after, we recommend reading past issues of Profiles.

We especially welcome submissions from artists who are underrepresented in the arts due to their ethnicity, socio-economic background, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability or age.

We also accept submissions of fiction and non-fiction and are happy to accept submissions of artwork and writing from the same individual over the course of one submission period. However, please submit them using separate forms, unless they are part of the same project (in which case please use the writing submission form and combine your artwork and written piece in a single document).

We feature work from artists living in Ireland and abroad.

Ensure you read our guidelines in full before submitting your work — they are also available in OpenDyslexic font.
